Default Snowplow Dash Switch Install Help

Trying to make use of the Snowplow Wire which is the Yellow / Orange pigtail behind the headlight switch. I replaced my Hazard switch with the Hazard/Snowplow Switch. I thought maybe by just installing the switch it would recognize it and start functioning. I pressed the snowplow button and the light on the switch did not illuminate. Using a multimeter on the yellow / orange plow accessory wire I cylced the plow button and I did not have any power at the wire either. Using ForScan I looked to see if there were any Snowplow features and yes, there are. Snowplow control was disabled in IPC, enabled it and switch still does not work or light up. and no power at yellow / orange wire. Checked BCM and it showed Snow Plow Mode Enabled, I disabled it and I got power at the wire, but its constant with the ignition and no control with the snowplow button to turn it off or on.

Has anyone been able to install the snowplow switch in a F150 that did not come with it? I do not need all the power saving options the snow plow operation controls, just looking to have it control that pigtail to turn on/off the 12v.

Here is high-level outline of how the plow package works. It might help you better understand what you are seeing.

"The optional snowplow package adds a switch to the instrument panel and blunt cut for customer access. When the snowplow switch is enabled, a ground signal is received by the FCIM from the snowplow switch. The FCIM sends a message to the BCM which then grounds the rear heated seats/customer access relay control circuit. When the relay is energized, power is diverted from the rear heated seats and applied to the customer access blunt cut. When the snowplow switch is active, the following systems are disabled:

AC inverter
Fog lamps
Heated steering wheel
Heated seats
Massaging seats"

Also see this diagram that might help you find missing components in your truck.

The post might seem a bit mundane but it’s hard to explain it all. Long story short I want the Plow button on center dash to work, and supply the 12 volts to the plow accessory wire.

You will need to activate the snowplow option in Forscan.

I went into ForScan and the only places I found snow plow mode was in the IPC and BCM, it was enabled in both locations. I also have the traction control / hill descent button I wanted to install so this AM I thought to see if adding the hill descent button and enabling it in ForScan would work, and it did. I am able to turn hill descent on and off with the button. So I am baffled as to why the Snowplow Mode isn’t working? Could it be smart enough to check ohms or something to see if anything is connected to the pigtail?

On another note there were no extra wires coming from the plow switch harness on the donor truck, it is the same wires going into the single hazard switch as the hazard / plow switch combo.
