Default Snow Plows - What to get.

I'm looking to get a snow plow for my 15 F150 4X4. I've never had a plow, always a snow blower. My driveway is approx 50yds not flat, with a parking pad below 50'X50'. I came across the Myers home plow system that connects with a 2" front mounted receiver. I don't plan on doing anything other then my driveway, and don't need any type of commercial build quality. I do want electric/hydraulic lift and turn. Anything that I should be aware of or stay away from. Thanks in advance.

Your better off buying a good plow my fathers neighbor had one of those Meyer plows that connect to the receiver, if you got over 4" of snow it was useless and he had issues every year. My father has a boss plow now for 15 years with out an issue . If you can swing it buy a light duty plow and don't look back plus it opens up a good resale market

What's your budget? I went with a Boss HTC 7'6" with the poly blade. Great setup. It cost me just under $5k installed. I looked at Fisher and Snowex too.

My previous experience was only plowing with my quad and a 5' blade.

Thanks and thanks. No more the 5K would really love to keep it in the $3500 range. If I can't get power angle, but only lift, that's ok.

I'd head South and "get" out of town!

I have a Boss HTX for mine. It's great, I have nothing but good things to say about it. Easy to get on and off and has been reliable. The fisher half ton plow is good also. You could get away with a small poly fisher homesteader too if you are just going to do the one small drive. The Meyer home plow is kind of cheap and very light duty.

You aren't supposed to plow with an ecoboost. Ford doesn't recomend it because the blade will block the intercooler. But if you just do your own drive and don't travel on the road with it, I'm sure it will be ok.

Boss just released a half ton V plow. I'm tempted to upgrade my year old blade to it, but have been trying to resist.

I believe the electronic power steering is also an issue when plowing

All good things to look into, power steering, electric not sure why that would be an issue. But yes, I will not be traveling down the highway with it on blocking the intercooler.

I have 7'6" boss on my 1500 ram and love it. I bought my F150 with a 5.0L so I can eventually swap the plow to it. Boss makes a high quality product. A little steep at 5k but we'll worth it in the long run. My plow is 7 years old and always been kept in my garage. I plow a few family members driveways sometimes as well. Plow still looks brand new.

Ahh, it appears that the electric power steering with the addition of plow can tax the vehicles electric system.

I'm sure there's a way around this, larger alternator, larger battery, additional battery, although I'm not sure there's room for one.
