Keep us posted pls. My dealer does not care. When I complained about it, I bet they even did not look at the truck. Universal answer to most of the problems like this: "can't reproduce" or "it is normal". I am quite surprised with my dealer's attitude. Annoying mechanical noises from a new truck are not normal. Or, if you say it is normal - explain me at least what is it exactly I do accept the explanations that are technically correct but I do not believe in the ghosts in the cars

Thanks, The sound was similar to the parking brake popping off as you mention but I had not even touched the brake to release. Thought maybe it was maybe the parking brake slipping a bit due to the motion of starting and an extra person in the truck. When I saw this post it got me thinking there may be more to it. I have not noticed the sound again so hoping it was the brakes and nothing to worry about.

Thanks,
George

We are probably talking about different sounds because I am 100% sure I hear that "thump" regardless of having the parking brake engaged or not.

My does this every time I start it after not using it for a couple of days. I assumed, and believe, it's the shutters.

My 5.0 does this also and so does my Acura. After it sits for a while all the oil drains from the engine back to the pan. The VCT system makes this noise at start up because it takes a second for oil to reach the VCT system. If you drive it everyday you will probably never hear this noise.

Mine can do it just after being parked for 5-10 minutes with everything hot. But not every single time. This is I think about either something in the exhaust system occasionally touching another part or AC. AC in AUTO mode can go on and off any time so it can be in any state when I turn off the engine...

the dealership says its the wastegate making the noise. I just dont agree with this result. The noise is too loud in my opinion. It really sounds like its coming from the transmission area.
Here is today's video I posted on youtube:

Default yet another video

if you listen to my other videos, you will hear the clunk. Then come back and listen to this video and you can still hear the clunk at 11 seconds, right after the starter disengages. here is the latest version.

ngrigoriev: My truck is equipped like yours and I experience exactly the same clunk. I didn't take mine to the dealer; i concluded that the sound was caused by the AC compressor kicking in due to the auto climate control being left on. It is disconcerting the first time it happens, no?
