Should I be Ticked?
I like my dealer, they seem pretty classy. So today I had the old girl in for the works and a state inspection. I always like to check and make sure that the oil life monitor has been reset (because I'm a nut) and as I'm scrolling through the screens notice that one of the bars on the rolling gas mileage meter is almost at zero and there is noticable movement on the gas gauge!
So now I'm thinking that they had it idling for a period (long) of time or someone took it out for a Ferris Buehler parks the Porsche at a valet parking garage joy ride. I'll give them a call, but won't hold my breath to them admitting one of the technicians took it out for a thrashing.
Any other thoughts on what you would do or recommend?
Thanks

even if he was romping on it, it would be higher than zero. i too would assume they left it idling.

What does state inspection involve in your state? Some states require the vehicle running for part of the test, and s stationary vehicle tends to get zero MPG.

prob. new oil change guy had the truck running with the ac blowing while he figured out how to reset the oil monitor. add time for his cell phone call he was on.

Here, the state inspection also includes a braking test...so they have to drive it. That and idling would certainly be a very reasonable explanation. Then factor in what Motsco said about the guy sitting in it with the AC running.

Believe me no one is taking your truck for a joy ride. I buy cars for a living and we hate having to drive a customers car, even though we have to. Especially hate driving expensive vehicles like S63, Ferrari, lambo, etc. The Ford tech has seen so many f150s he isn't interested in yours!
