So I took my new truck in for warranty service in October to fix the satellite drop out issue. They needed to have my truck a whole day to diagnose a known problem and then had to special order the replacement antenna. I was told at the time that it was very backordered and to expect a long wait.
Come January I'm wondering what happened (Bonnie called me) and I find out the original service "advisor" was no longer there, and the parts had come and gone because I never "picked them up".
So now we're reordering the parts.
While I'm there I try to get another issue they "couldn't confirm" the fist time, fixed. There is wind noise from the driver's side door and after my own diagnostics I was able to pinpoint a deformed seal (see pictures). The new service advisor acknowledged the problem and I asked if they had the part or if it could also be ordered prior to coming in to have the antenna replaced. He said the part was a day out but first I would need to have a technician diagnose the problem. Well that just gets me back into "can't confirm" mode again because the wind noise is most apparent in above-65 mph highway speeds or with cross winds. BTW, when my wife drove just as fast and during cross winds I couldn't hear the same noise in the passenger door and she could hear the noise from the driver's door just fine.
According to the dealer, Ford puts this burden on them, and me, because they won't pay for warranty service without a tech going through a checklist and, even though there is clearly a defect, it means I need another service appointment to diagnose and another to fix AFTER they order the stupid part.
Is this normal behavior from Ford service departments?
Pictures show left door vs right door weather strip where it's deformed. It should lie flat like it does in the right door but instead bows out on the left door.
