Default Seeking Opinion on Purchase Option

Hey Everyone, I've been lurking for quite some time before finally joining as a member. I have gone back and forth on multiple trucks trying to make sure I come away with the best option. This would be my first truck, and I plan on keeping it ~10 years as I have with my other vehicles.

If you guys could be so kind to weigh in on this, I'd really appreciate it.

Option 1
2017 SCREW 4x4 XLT 302A 2.7EB Sport Package $35k after trade (pre TTL)

Option 2
2016 SCREW 4x4 Lariat 501A V8 Sport Package $35k after trade (pre TTL), 18k miles.

The Lariat seems like a great deal, but it is a fleet vehicle. The interior is still flawless still, and it is under warranty obviously. Has anyone come across this dilemma of new/used? I love the Lariat and the value/resale I'd be receiving... but it isn't a new vehicle that I would have owned from day 1. Sorry for the newb question, I look forward to being a part of this community!

I just went through this scenario myself, I ended up buying a brand new XLT sport 302a 5.0. SCREW. Starting new is the best option it gives you piece of mind. With trucks you never know if they towed past there limits or how much was loaded in the box.Plus there is a special bond with your vehicle when you get it new.

There's really not a "correct" answer here, as it is personal preference. But I would personally go used, but get an extended warranty. That's what I did with my 2015 I bought with 12,000 miles on it

If you're keeping it a long time you have to go with which vehicle you find the most comfortable and will make you the happiest.

For me it was a Lariat 502a because of all the comfort features, this would steer me to the 501a as the choice.

If you put on a ton of miles yearly maybe the new would be better if not I love the saving you get on used vehicles. the 501a is worth 35kish when you drive it home and 302a is worth 30kish or less when you drive it home.

No wrong answer here. I'd go new but that's mine.

On average, I put on around 18k miles a year. I appreciate the feedback. It really seems like the Lariats start to buoy on used truck prices at a certain range of years, where the XLTs continue to drop in value.

I would go with the Lariat. It will have more resale value when you do decide to sell or trade

The 302A XLT is still the best deal for your money, hands down, I went through the same dilemma. I agonized over a 501A Lariat Sport or a 302A XLT Sport for months and ultimately went with the XLT 302A sport.
