Default Security System VSS Mount Location

I purchased part# JS7Z-19A361-A to add a security shock sensor and remote start to my vehicle with the factory key fob. I have it all hooked up but not mounted and tried to try it out sitting on the floor but it won't set it off.

Where is the best place to mount this? Also, where did you mount the little LED? I hate to drill my dash but if I do, I want to put it some place it is visible but not an eyesore.

I believe the instructions tell you to wire tie it in place. There is a metal bracket above the brake pedal that you can use.

I assume you followed the instructions to ENABLE it?

And there are instructions as to where to mount the LED on the steering wheel plastic collar.

If you only bought that module, you're not adding remote start, just security. Cellular remote start is a different module.

Yeah I think I just have to mount it to something to get it to work. It's enabled....just need to mount it and the LED.

And this particular unit does have "basic" remote start with the lock unlock buttons on the factory flip key fob. It has a tiny jumper connector you install but to get it to work.....has to be turned on with Forscan or IDS at the dealership for the remote start.....Its a newer module that they say is only for the 2018 but parts websites are saying this works for all 2015-2018 trucks.

Still trying to find the optimal way to mount this for best performance....I found instructions from 2 years ago that says mount it to the wire above the parking brake module and a picture....my truck is a little different in that mounting area. The instructions for 2017 are more vague....deleted the picture and says mount to the instrument panel frame or harness on the drivers side.

YouTube has a couple of good videos on how and where to install it. What year is your truck?

For the 2018 trucks that part number includes the perimeter alarm system and also the remote starter in one module. I just ordered one from Fairway Ford in Ohio.
