Angry Security Alarms

I searched but cant find the answer.

I normally carry 2 dogs in the back seat. I thought I had the security system to just monitor the perimiter, while I am in store. But the dogs kept setting it off.

So it now seems that unless I manually program the system each time I get out of truck, it resorts to perimeter and interrior sensing (default mode).

Is forscan the only way to change the default??

OK, new year new problem: I cant seemm to trigger the alarm, from outside the truck. To test it, ya know?

Banging on windows or wigling door handles does nothing. I can trigger it from my living room with ford pass.

Also, when I select which sensors to enable (perimiter or all), I selct one of them. But there is not "confim" button. And, now that i think about it, I dont get the "confirn on exit", or what ever that warning says.

Does having a key fob inside the truck disable the security system?

TNX Dave

The menu in my instrument panel allows setting either perimeter or "all" sensors to be the default.

It wouldn't, unless your truck has the motion/vibration sensors which are a dealer/aftermarket option. The base sensors check for open doors and motion inside the cab. If you have it, the vibration sensor is there to detect breaking glass, not jiggling door handles.

Leaving the fob inside makes the alarm system think the driver is still inside the vehicle. It disables the interior motion sensors, and is not a good idea. Something like 40% of all vehicles stolen have the keys or fobs in them.

A good system is hard to test manually, because it's designed to avoid the false alarms that make people ignore alarms or turn them off. There's not really much reason to test it anyway. If a sensor isn't working, it will tell you.

I'd like to change my default to Outside instead of both.

I don't think Forscan can change the default, to my knowledge it can just be used to remove the option entirely.
IPC, 720-02-02. The first entry on yours is probably 5, change it to 1. That will disable the option in the cluster, and should disable the motion sensing functionality.
