Default Screen frozen

Has anyone experienced this before. It even stays like this when the truck is off and locked. If so, what’s the fix? 2018 with 3000 miles.

Those spooky hands in the screen would bug me too!
But seriously I would just take it in and have the dealer check it out.

I don’t know but I have automatic updates turned on. I’ll have to check when I get back to the truck.

Don't trust the automatic updates - I've never actually seen them work, across 3 vehicles with Sync 3.

Sadly, you're driving around in a big computer with wheels. The 4 Rs usually works - retry (do it again), reboot (pull the ground cable off the battery and let it sit for 15 minutes), reformat (new system software), replace (new APIM/dealer time).

Try shaking it like an etch-a-sketch.

Try disconnecting the fuse for the radio and then plug it back in. When my truck was about 6 months old I loaned it to my son in law. He gets in it and radio wasn’t working, display was wonky and no controls on the touch screen present, I went through the fuses and unplugged the radio fuse and put it back. Viola! It has worked fine ever since, these FRED’s once in a while glitch and need to be reset.

It started working again on its own after being off for a while. I wonder if a sensor had ice on it or something. Strange.

Thanks for for the recommendations.

Default Solved Frozen Screen

My screen was stuck on the connect to WiFi screen. No buttons worked and turning the vehicle off had no effect. With everything else off the screen stayed on and stuck there even when exiting the vehicle.

I removed the negative battery terminal and allowed the system to discharge. The screen on the dash went dark.

Restored power and even my radio settings and presets were still there. I then continued with connecting to my home WiFi and it worked this time.

Sync system obviously needed a reboot.

Works good now.

Gary
