Morning all! Yesterday I went for gas and I noticed that the screen had changed.I plugged in my phone plugged in and it's different than it was before, meaning earlier in the day when I also had it plugged in. The 1st picture is w/o the phone plugged in and the 2nd one is when I plugged it in. Also, the temperature isn't showing up when plugged in but shows when the phone is not plugged in. Just wondering if someone could let me know what's going on....thanks!
Android Auto from your phone is connected on the bottom since you have it plugged. The top is not. You can control if Android Auto starts automatically in your phone settings.
Bottom is Android Auto with the new, full screen, courtesy of the new 'Coolwalk' redesign. Google it. 😀 Map is Google Maps from your phone. You can disable the satellite view on Google Maps - personally, I don't like it. I also use Waze far more often than Google Maps, but they still haven't released a version that will go full-screen in AA like Google Maps. Not long, though.
Top is just your standard Sync screen & in-vehicle navigation/maps.

Coolwalk...great thanks that explains it!
I'm retired so I know diddly squat about this stuff...that's why I ask.

But shouldn't the temperature show?
Think of Android Auto as a separate operating system from Ford Sync that mirrors your phone functionality. You can go back to the Sync system at any time by hitting the Ford logo in the Android app menu.

This happened because you plugged into one of the 2 USB ports in your console front cubby, which engage Android Auto automatically (if your vehicle and phone are set to do that, which they usually are by default). You can avoid this without changing any settings, and get a quicker charge on your phone, if you use a USB adapter with one of the round 12 volt power ports in the dash or inside the main console storage. I only plug into the cubby USB ports if I want to use Android Auto, which isn't often.
on my 2019 I have no weather widget with cool walk, no temp either. on my wifes 2022 she has a weather widget on her AA, really odd but hers is wireless AA and the 12" screen. but I had not seen anyone else with a weather widget on cool walk on any screen size
Mine will display weather and temperature next to the displayed time with AA coolwalk, however the information is taken from my phone and as such does not display actual outside air temp like regular sync does. You can get close by changing the settings in your phone to auto update weather while on the move... which I believe happens every time there is a cell phone tower handoff while traveling. In any case, the weather information is a calculated guess at best, since most locales do not have a weather station.
