Interesting... I did read that, but had forgotten about it. It's been cold here, and it was the first time the truck had been driving in a few hours. Maybe 38F today?

After driving it around twice (one video for each side), I wrote that post, then kicked around for a few hours and ran to the store.
When I got back, I jacked the front of the truck up, turned it on, and confirmed that both front tires turn independently of the axle shafts in 2wd mode.
Engaging 4A, both tires spin the axle shafts. Back to 2wd, and both wheels turn freely. Seems like it's working correctly.

The only thing that might have changed from my videos to the visual verification would be the driving out to the grocery store. I wonder if that explains it?

If it was a long enough drive, then based on what that person posted, then yes. However, I can't confirm that with 100% because I don't think mine is new enough.

I believe it was, @tmcolegr that posted about the temp effects, in a TSB. I know I saved it, now can't find it.
But yes, at least on the 13th gen, when temps are down, I think around 32F or so, the system will lock in the IWE's for 1-2 miles to warm the front diff fluids. I tagged him, maybe he could he repost that TSB.
