Default Scan Tools

With these (& pretty much all) newer vehicles nowadays being rolling computers, if there is a problem with your vehicle, you pretty much have to take it to a shop & be checked out. Beings I`m retired & have four new/ish vehicles, including the F 150, I decided it would be interesting to have a bi directional scan tool, so I bought this one:

LAUNCH X431 DIAGUN IV WiFi/Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner Auto Full System Diagnostic Tool Support ECU Coding,Actuation Test, 11 Reset Functions Diagnostic Report - Free Update 2 Years

by
LAUNCH LAUNCH
Now, I am no mechanic, by any means, but it is another tool to have. Just wondering if anyone else has one & what type, model etc.

I use this currently for my ford products

and I use the same OBDlink device with SCANTOOL XL PRO - GM enhanced set for my GM products I use HP tuners on the GM products to tune them

I've not decided what I want to get for tuning the fords - I'm open to other suggestions

I also use the OBDlinkMX with Torque Pro on my mobile device with GM and Chrysler extra PID's. I've also used that on some hondas with success.

Main reason I like the OBDlink device - it's a BT OBD interface module but it has power saving modes, can stay connection and power itself down, and far more importantly the maker updates the firmware on occasions to ensure it works with more products.

It is also fully bi-directional so if your scan software allows for actuation and test modes you can use them. I can trigger the ABS unit to cycle the values when I flush the brake fluid - I can cycle on purpose the AC compressor and read the pressure the car thinks it runs at. etc etc.

What software are you using to invoke all of that?

I have a couple of inexpensive scan tools, but I prefer ForScan on my F150.

I might not have been clear. the ScantoolXl pro will do that on GM products when the GM enhancement add on. (it doesn't work on the newest newest like a 2018, but it does work on my 09 and my neighbor's 14)

I'm not doing that right now on a ford product - but I wonder of Forscan will do it. (haven't had to do that sort of MX on my ford's just yet)
