On my way home, traffic slows in front of me, I brake. Glance in the rear view and see a white f250 coming in too hot and he is out of room to avoid hitting me. I tense up (I know, worst thing to do) grip the wheel and brace for impact. And wow, it was a strong one. My 3 daughters were in the truck, everyone is ok, everyone was belted in. Just sore. The other guy claimed his foot slipped off the brake, but I never saw his hood drop, no skid marks, no real sign of slowing. If I had to guess, we were going about 20 and him maybe 35-40 at point of impact. Luckily I had plenty of room and did not hit the car in front of me. I will just say I'm glad the truck is strong and stayed planted and controllable. I hate seeing my baby damaged though. I haven't really looked around, but the drivers side looks worse the bottom of the bed is pushed into the cab and the top is nearing 3.5 inches away from the back of the cab. We both have State Farm and I submitted the claim tonight Any advice before I start talking to my claim rep tomorrow? Oh, the other driver was cited for failure to control speed
I was rear ended years ago. We both had State Farm as well. Even had the same agent. Just make sure everything is done to your satisfaction. Hate to see the damage, but good thing you and your kids are fine.
Just had my truck totalled, bottom line these trucks can take a lickin, sad to see you go through this, but bottom line is everyone is ok, that is all that really matters.
Your truck did it's job and kept everyone safe, that's the biggest thing. From an insurance standpoint, have your receipts ready to file the claim...and wait.
Layer up man. I know it's almost taboo to do so. I was rear ended a few years ago and felt ok afterwards. A few days later I hurt like hell. Turned out I had ruptured a disc. Ended up needing a cervical fusion and discectomy. The driver had State Farm, he was legally blind!?!? And they were ugly during the entire process. Glad everyone seems fine though!
