Running Boards
2018 XLT 302A 2.7L 21k miles
I have had this just over a year and Ford just replaced the driver side running board due to rust and now the passenger side looks ready for replacement. They are the chrome steps. I keep this truck very clean (as clean as possible for Maine). Is this something that other people are seeing as well?

Dealer replaced my 18' chrome driver side running board too under warranty. It was bubbling up. The lariat trim running board is chintzy compared to xlt running board. Long story short, the dealer put on the wrong running board and I drove around with the XLT one for a week. I noticed that the XLT running board never creaks when I step on it. Both of my lariat running boards do.They all will likely look like crap in short order... this is fake painted on chrome.

Yes my 2016 were starting to rust pit and peel. I took them off, sold them, and bought some OEM magnetic running boards from Ebay so I wouldn't have to deal with that anymore. I actually made $10 out of the deal and the magnetic color look a lot better than the chrome.

Maybe getting a nice silver powder coated side step would match the chrome package okay and would not corrode or rust.
Good luck.

I went with stainless steel running boards on my 15. I live in Pa and they salt the crap out of the roads in the winter. 4 years later rhey look like new. See description below for info. Mine were made by Tyger.
