As long as the oil is warm I can't see it draining any less oil that the OEM plug.

Plus this one has a magnet on the inside to catch debris.

You could always drain the oil using the screw in adapter, then when it's just about empty, remove the Ronin plug altogether to inspect the magnet and allow the last few drops to come out.

Yes the area/size of the plunger and magnet won’t flow like the removed OEM at all ( that was the whole idea)

And if your engine is eating itself and the magnet has a grape sized glob of shavings on it it might not flow well at all. LOL 😳

Ive yet to install mine yet, and come second oil change and after might even remove the whole thing to assess shaving quantity and character- old dirt bike habit....

I just looked at the video on the website and it's claiming that the manufacture recommends that the plastic drain plug be replaced every oil change. I don't see this anywhere in the ford manual.

Are the oil change really that bad?

MESSY. Oil comes out so fast it spews and splashes everywhere, especially problematic on the newer 5.0 that holds almost 9 quarts. Thus the Ronin that drains much slower and predictable. I installed mine but haven't changed the oil yet. Have put almost 2k in 2 weeks so it won't be long....

I have heard you have to replace the plastic plug as well, I bought one just in case I screwed mine up but changed it twice and reused with no issue other than the huge drain mess...

I've reused my original yellow plug for almost 2 years before replacing it with a new Ford plug that was around $3 bucks. I don't think the plug needs replacement unless you have a leak problem and I don't see that happening unless the O ring becomes damaged or brittle.

I'm waiting on my Ronin to come in and it will go in the pan. Less mess is what is my driving factor, a simple oil change with little to no chance of getting splashed or staining the driveway.

The "No mess" people CLEARLY don't have the plastic oil plug. Even on a lift with a good oil drain bucket, it takes some practice to not make a mess. The sheer volume that comes out at one time makes splash almost unavoidable.

My plan is to remove mine every time as well. I suspect you will be leaving a small amount of oil in the pan without removing, so I would like to get that out and inspect the magnet as well. Being able to regulate that initial flow is absolutley worth the cost.

If you are splashing oil off the drain pan, you need to get a proper drain pan that has a vent and at least two drains into its tank or a grid style type tank. I can drop 2 1/2 gallons of oil in 3 seconds out of my cars' dry sump tank not splashing oil. the 5.0 in my truck is quasi normal being a wet sump crank case. The mess comes mostly from the filter coming off.

It's not that it splashes off the drain pan, but rather it splashes against the sway bar since there is only about an inch between the plug and sway bar.

Why they put the plug where they did is a mystery to me...
