Ride Rite Flag Bracket install
I purchased and installed the ride rite bags for my 2016 King Ranch. All are in correctly and bags work great. I have searched and googled but can't find pictures or a video of how to install the flag brackets. The instructions are not accurate and the install video doesn't really focus on the inside frame hole they go in. I think I have them installed correctly with about 3 or so inches of the tabs sticking out. It just doesn't look right? I folded the tabs over for a cleaner look. I'm a little OCD and would think that Firestone would have come up with a better nut or some other way to secure the mount. Has anyone else done this or have a problem with how this is designed and the finished look? Seems like they should be tucked away inside the frame? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
Thanks Flamingtaco. I appreciate the video. I called Firestone and confirmed that I did install them correctly and the tabs of the flag brackets are supposed to stick out. Granted they can't be seen and no one is looking under my truck. It also doesn't affect performance, so I'll just live with it. Thanks again for the reply.
I have the Firestone kit awaiting my install, haven't even unpacked it yet- one comment on the "flag" nuts- known as "stick nuts" many places.
I had to put quite a few in on my 4Runner skidplates and rock slider installation.
Don't know about the Firestone yet- but for the 4R they were not painted or plated at all. Just bare steel with a nut welded to it. Not good
Tip> I sprayed them all with Cold Galvanize paint prior to installation. I also antiseized them all- I do not want to ever experience the pain of getting a highly rusted one to release the bolt into it.
