Reprogramming PCM
what did you see on YouTube then? This response is not what I expected to see since you asked the question. I mean it doesn’t get more straight forward than that! The compatible part of the spec is what’s key....as in most Chinese ~$50 cables will do the trick usually. You don’t need a $1k+ big name pro cable. You can cheap out on the software as well since there are cracked IDS around that can pull calibrations online and flash, but since FJDS is reasonable cost for a 2 day license, that route is well worth it if you don’t want to deal with cracked software and trying to get it to work, especially since those installs can be pretty fickle. Otherwise, I dunno what you were really expecting.
That's the YouTube video I watched and read the comments... As to your being straight forward, I am not doubting your words or your knowledge of mechanics... I am a novice to this when it comes to fixing or repairing vehicles. So, IDS and FJDS stuff is Greek to me. Oil change, check. Replace wipers, check. Change or plug a tire, check. Replace air filters, check. Anything else, repair shop...
Thus, my response earlier regarding not being a gearhead
The only time you would need to touch the PCM is for battery replacement to reset the charging logic for a new battery.
