I had my tailgate replaced after an accident. The other day I was cleaning out the bed and noticed the left bracket appeared to be pulling away from the tailgate. There are two empty holes that are threaded.
Was this a mistake by the repair shop or are these for a feature I don’t have?
If anyone could post pictures to compare that would be helpful. Thanks!

This is the passenger side from my 2018. While the bracket is not bent, the 2 holes do not have anything in them either.

 

looks like you got a plain tailgate and it had a Step tailgate is what Im seeing. that little black bracket is ONLY on trucks with the tail gate step.

 

Not true that bracket came on my 2019 Lariat. It prevents the tailgate from moving when you step on it. While I removed mine and have had no issues. It also makes it harder to steal the tailgate because it does not move sideways with he bracket on it.
