New f150. Auto tailgate release works but tailgate does not come down when on level ground. Wondering if there is a simple adjustment that can be made as opposed to taking it to the dealership. My previous 2016 worked flawlessly when new. Searched forum for possible answers without success. I do not see anything binding. Rubber bumps are all tight.
Do you have a bed cover? My cover is a Ford tri-fold and in colder weather often freezes to the tailgate. I have to run my finger or a pen under the back lip of the cover to free it, otherwise it will not open.
If you live where it is warm and freezing isn't an issue, then I would look at the counterbalance rod in the tailgate to see if that has been installed properly.
Above zero here with heated garage so not too bad. Works fine on an incline but on flat ground no worky. Maybe has to limber up a bit ???. In comparison the tailgate seems a lot heavier than my 2016 when I close it. Not sure what the deal is there.
There must be an adjustment because I have a Weather Tech trifold tonneau cover and the tailgate always lowers with remote as long as it is not frozen.
