Default Remote Start Function: How To?

So, I've had my F-150 coming up on exactly one year as of Aug. 21. It was built on Aug. 10 at the KC plant.

Question: Remote start function.

I can't get the darn thing to work consistently. It must be something I'm doing wrong...

Here is what I've done and what I've tried:

1) Pressing the "2/circle" button, twice, quickly.
2) Pressing medium speed.
3) Pressing slowly.

I get a red light on the fob each time.

I make sure the truck is locked before I do it.

I have monkeyed around with the "setting" on the truck and see nothing for the remote start function.

Any help would be appreciated!

Disconnect the battery for a minute and reconnect it.

Also the the sequence is LOCK-REMOTE START-REMOTE START

Press the lock button once and remote start button twice. If your not in range in will flash red. It's pretty simple. Try changing the battery in your remote.

As stated above, you need to press the lock button and then the remote start button twice.

Not exactly sure why Ford forces the lock button to be pressed but it has been that way for years now.

All of my other vehicles have always just been the remote start button twice and the doors automatically lock and it starts.

Thanks guys, yup:

Lock, start, start

I was not doing the "lock" part since the car was already locked.
