Just like the title says. I have a 2015 Lariat, When I use the remote start button, occasionally the motor will start, however most of the time it releases the remote tailgate. Any thoughts?

This truck did not have remote start. I added that it by replacing the TPMS receiver and new key fobs. I am thinking it’s a programming issue or a fob issue. I am stuck as I cannot add any more keys unless I can get the dealer to erase keys.

 

What part number is the kit you bought that replaces the TPMS module? That doesn’t sound right at all.

 

Did you replace the BCM?

 

replace? No I did not. But I did reprogram
it as stated in the 3 button fob to 5 button fob upgrade.

 

What upgrade?

It would help if you detail out what kit you bought, what steps you took, what hardware you changed, what you “reprogrammed” etc, so we don’t need to play 20 questions.

 

it all started when Ford discontinued the old 3g cellular remote start. I did not have remote start. I added a Ford Tcu from flvpmods. Works great! But sometime I am in a location with poor cell service. So I wanted to enable a fob remote start. My truck came with a three button remote. I replaced the RTM. I followed the programming instructions on that post, though with the addition of the TCU I had already changed the bcm to enable remote start.

I ordered two new dice button fobs. I programmed them prior to changing the RTM. Changed the rtm and the new fobs worked to lock, unlock, and remote tailgate open. The start is hit and miss. Sometimes it starts other times the start button sequence will cause the tailgate to pop.
