I bought a 2018 XL STX a couple weeks ago and I am loving this truck. The only thing I would like that it didn't have is some type of remote access. I would like to have something added on that would allow me to start and lock doors etc from my phone. What would be the most cost effective way to achieve this. I could buy and add the components myself if that is plausible. I don't currently have any type of remote start if that makes a difference.

That option will require you to turn on Remote Start with FORScan, or have a dealer do it.

 

I would not add Remote Access at this point in time. Ford has pulled it from the websites. It is going to be replaced with SmartLink...whenever they finally decide to release it. Who knows how long support will exist for Remote Access.

 

Remote Access will likely exist until the third party, Spindance, decides they don't like the revenue stream.

 

I have seen a little bit about smartlink. Like you said though... Who knows when they will release it. Announced over a year ago and was supposed to have been available last summer.
