Default Reliable Engine Poll

Not asking which engine you prefer but rather which engine you believe to be more reliable . I've read a ton of posts regarding these engines, but I want to hear from those who own them!

Cheers

I said 5.0 only because they got rid of the 3.7. 5.0's still have problems of their own, but they should last longer than the turbo vehicles. The 3.5 non-eco hasn't been out that long in the trucks. I've only heard of a very few threads that have had a problem with the 3.7.

The big Eco and the 5.0 are the longest running engines in the current F150 platform, but both have had updates to them. Take care of any of them and they should all last a long time.

I understand that the 2.7 has only been out since 2015, but has there been many issues with that engine?

Pretty much like the 3.7, I've not really heard of any problems. Being more complex, it has more cause for failure. Not saying the 5.0 is the pushrod engine of old, but it does have less that can fail mechanically/electrically.

Like I said though, all of these engines should be good for several thousands of miles if taken care of properly.

someone from my work has a 2012 3.5 ecoboost and one of the turbos needs to be replaced for the 2nd time. I forgot to ask how many Miles on it but no matter what they shouldn't go twice. He did lug around quite a bit with it.

With the turbo tech what it is today, it's pretty rare for a turbo to go out like that. Sounds like they have another issue that the dealer is turning a blind eye to. Oil drainage, oil pressure, or even coolant flow. Shouldn't have to replace a turbo on the same side twice.
