So I just bought a used 2018 f150 xl it came with only one transponder key.
The car is pretty bare bones it doesnt even have lock / unlock buttons on the doors so I'm wondering if it's possible to get a flip type key and program it to the car.
And if I did will it be able to lock/unlock the car

 

Does the truck have power locks and windows?

Edit: guess I didn’t read doors the first time around. Thought I read it didn’t have them on the key.

Answer is no. No power locks = no key fob can lock/unlock them.

 

No lock/unlock door buttons means that your truck does not have power door locks so a fob would not work. Your truck is a basic Option Level 100A.

 

They sell remote entry lock actuators on Amazon. I installed them in an afternoon on my 1999 Ford Ranger that didn’t have power locks or windows. Worked great and made it really convenient. Kit was less than $30. If you’re mechanically inclined, this would be a good solution. Otherwise, I’m sure a local shop could install it for you as well.

Agreed. Used a cheap kit to add power windows to a Nissan Frontier basic model without power windows or locks. If I had kept it, I would've thrown one of these kits into it.
