Default Red LED Lights on top of Dash

What are the Red LED lights on top of the dash that reflect on the windshield when I start the truck? What are they for?

Collision Alert - you'll probably freak out a bit when it happens the first time. Also getting a warning on the dash. Happens if the truck detects you're closing to fast on another vehicle or they cut in front of you.

Thanks!
They are on top of the dash and come on evertime you start the truck. I have not seen them on any other time.

Mine came on once. A guy in front of me hit the brakes to make a late turn. They flash like cop lights on the windshield and the warning comes up on the dash. It'll scare the **** out of you the first time it happens.

I hate to revive such an old thread here... but my 2016 Lariat does not have Adaptive Cruise Control and the sticker mentions nothing about Collision Detection (I thought they were paired together) but I have the same line of LEDs in the front windshield. Is it standard with the Lariat 502A or something? I'm just not totally convinced they are collision detection because I can't find anything saying it is.

Yes Collision Warning is paired with Adaptive Cruise Control and named package 50A. This is also optional in Lariat Luxury(502A).

So since I don't have that package, care to deliver a guess to what those LEDs are?

I was thinking maybe some kind of light for a decibal meter. Maybe they all light up when your significant other in the passenger seat is yelling "SLOW DOWN, THIS IS NOT A RACECAR!"

I know they are referred to as the "HUD" (Heads Up Display) and are the visual indicator for the collision avoidance system, and have come on many times when the truck thought I was going to hit something (mostly false alarms from people turning in front of you and the truck thinks you're going to hit them when you're going actually clear them easily).

It is possible to have a 502A (or higher) and have the setting turned off so they never come on. I had this system on my 2015 502A and it is also on my 2018 802A, but on the 802A it was turned off in the settings and I had to turn it on. (Adaptive cruise was also turned off and I had to enable that as well).

So maybe it is actually currently turned off in OP's truck but the lights come on during startup as a confirmation the system is working? That's my guess.
