Default rear door lock function

OK...here goes, hopefully I can describe this situation properly. I have a '16 Lariat Supercrew. My rear seat passengers cannot open their doors until I have opened the drivers door (or power unlock). Is this normal-or the stupidest feature ever? The child locks are not activated. I've gone through the settings in the display. Seems childish to have to wait for the driver to get out first. Am I missing a setting that I should change?
Thanks in advance!

Front doors are designed to unlock when one pulls the handle. Rear doors are not designed in the same way. Either you need to unlock the doors for them (by opening your door with Auto Unlock enabled, or hitting the unlock button), or the rear passenger needs to pull up the lock button before pulling on the handle.

Someone posted once that a double pull on the interior handle would unlock and open the rear door. Since I have a SuperCab, I was never able to verify that.

The child locks prevent them from opening the door from the inside, even when already unlocked.

Does any know if the rear doors can be rigged to operate like the front doors without losing any of the other features/functions? I agree with you, pretty annoying...
