Default Rear Camera stopped working...Fixed

So I have an 2015 Screw and my back up camera stopped working. I tried all the different things online to remedy the problem but none of them worked. I ordered a new Dorman cam from the rock and it came yesterday. Today I installed it thinking my problems would be over....not. So I started digging into the wiring harness and found this.

Really tight to work in but managed to attach a small piece of wire into the line. This is the first connection after the tailgate right above the spare.Soldered both ends up good and wrapped it up. Got into truck and had a rear camera again. Just thought I'd post this for someone else who may be having a issue with their camera. Mine started going out over time one day I'd have it the next it would be gone. Then just see the dealer for a fix. Hope this helps someone fix theirs.

Good to know. Fixed a license plate light in a similar way on my daughter's FIAT. The dealership was going to change the whole unit, but all that was wrong was a little wire in the loom leading into the hatch. Glad I checked there before letting them do it. Cancelled the appointment. Still working four years later.
It kind of looks like something took a bite? Every time a wee beastie runs under the truck, I hope they don't have some unfed curiosity leading them...

It was tied up and that area was rubbing against a part of the frame rail. On the back side, that is why I didn't see it right off. Had to clip the wire tie and drop the harness to see that spot. They leave ( at least on mine ) about 1 an 1/2 in of wire unprotected right at the end. I was taking every harness apart I could get to and cleaning and dielectric greasing them. So at least that is done and should protect them against the Michigan salt they throw on everything. Fingers crossed that is the first thing that has gone wrong on my 2015 with the ecoboost. Right at 98000 miles and still running like a top.
