Default Rear brake changes

I just found out my 2020 F 150 XLT CREW CAB PIckup has electric emergency brakes. I also understand that you can’t collapse the caliper pistons unless you put maintenance mode in the scanner. So much for doing my own brakes anymore. Is there something I can do to change this issue?

Unless it has changed, you can follow the attached procedure as per the Ford Workshop Manual.

Yep, takes less than 30 seconds to put it in maintenance mode, then you treat it like any other brake job.

Couldn't one simply disconnect the battery and not have to worry about an unexpected EPB application?

The maintenance mode is easy to use and works well.

Follow it exactly and never push or pull the dash button without the caliper in place over the rotor.

Assuming that someone tried to deactivate the parking brake incorrectly and the piston popped out of its bore. Boot still attached. Is there a secret to get it back in?

Some here have posted the same problem and were able to get the caliper back together and correctly functioning, others couldn't.

Don't remember exact steps but I think it involved removing the motor, reassemble and install the caliper with motor attached, bleed, attach connector, cycle parking brake, etc.

I'm sure there are few other steps, but it is possible. They are not that complicated, a new caliper would be assembled with the piston retracted, so you just need to get it back to that configuration.

don't use a c clamp to push the piston n. buy a new piston pusher at auto parts store.

No need for a scanner. Calm down.
