Would it help to take truck out of Automatic 4wheel drive?

At about 5200 miles I'm about 19.1; been dropping from 19.4 after I stopped having to commute on the freeway.

And a 4x2 with all-season tires instead of all-terrain mud tires would be even better. |

First time I drove home it was in an XLT. Until I realized that the XLT doesn't have 4A and Quad LED Headlamps. Swapped right away. Cost more but worth every penny. Although, I must say.. the XLT was sweet too. I'm sure whoever got that truck is just as happy as I am. |
8800 miles. Sitting at 18.9 after AFE cold air install. Was 17.3 before.

2800miles over 1 month. 19.1mpg in CrewCab 501 Lariat with 6.5' box and 3.55 gear. I commute on interstates during moderate rush hour times about 40miles one way.

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...14715cef7f.png This gas mileage is horrible! I'm running 91 or 92 octane, not towing anything, and have a minimal set of tools in the bed. It's flat out here, the speed limit is either 70 or 75 and I've been putting the cruise on the at the speed limit, not the 7 or so higher I'm used to driving at. I even got the first oil change at 3600 miles, as I've heard they do better after. But my results are simply not there. I don't know if something is wrong or if this is just what's to be expected. Either way, I'm not happy. So much excitement about this truck and everyday I'm left thinking I should have gotten something else. |
My 2012 had terrible fuel mileage until I had around 16000 miles on truck. I took the wife on a trip hwy 65 MPH and mountain driving to Pigeon Forge. 500 miles averaged 19.7 and 240 miles was mountain driving.
