Default Razorback Mud Flaps

I am wanting to install the Razorback mud flaps on my 2016. Does anyone know if they can be installed without the support brackets and if so is it a good idea? Looking at the Gatorback brackets and Razorback flaps, I'd be into them $300 for mud flaps. The wife isn't liking that idea. I've tried looking around for a while now and can not find an answer.

If you look at the pics in my thread below you can see that you would have a hard time installing these flaps without the brackets. You would have to drill into the truck, which could cause corrosion issues. These mud flaps are very heavy as well, so they need a pretty sturdy support system. You can also look up truck hardware's install videos on youtube to see more details on the brackets. They've very sturdy and well thought out.
