Default Rattle On Startup

2017 F-150 5.0, truck has been making this noise on startup randomly. Sometimes it will make it clear as day, but others it will be completely normal. Anyone heard this before? Dealership is giving me same “Cannot replicate” garbage...On top of the noise there is an annoying rough idle that can be felt while sitting still in drive, park but completely goes away once I start driving.

Two different dealerships have had it for almost a month combined with no success, they both say they cant replicate the noise or rough idle.

That doesn't sound right. The light rattling is the normal cold start cycle racket. But that clacking sounds worrisome to me, like a bad engine bearing (too much clearance, hence the banging). Does it make it when hot? When did it start making it? Did you buy it new? Do you know the oil change history of your truck? Post all of that, plus any more relevant info, to have a better reference. And also truck year and current mileage. If it makes it every time, I'd definitely get it documented by a dealer, especially if your powertrain warranty is close to expiring. The good news if it's an engine bearing is that it'll definitely get worse over time. If it hasn't or doesn't get worse, it might be something else, but just don't see what could do that kind of noise too... but that's why you need to provide the most information possible, for experts to give you a more informed opinion what it could be. Good luck brother, and keep us posted.

- Doesn't seem to make it as loud when hot, but I swear I can still hear it when sitting idle and outside the truck.
- It started making the noise back in August just out of the blue
- I did not buy it new, I bought it from a local NON Ford dealership. I test drove it and even took it to a trusted mechanic I know and everything checked out, no noises at all.
- I unfortunately don't have the oil change history.

It is a 2017 F150 with the 5.0, with 45k miles. I can't seem to find a way to make the noise every time I start the truck. I even took the service advisor out to the truck last time I picked it up just in case it made the noise as I cranked it...nothing. However I got about 5 miles down the road and the truck started "rough idling" at the red light and made the noise the following morning when I left for work. I only notice the noise from outside the cab, like when I use remote start. It doesn't always start making the noise immediately, sometimes I can start the truck it won't make the noise for 3-4 minutes. Then will slowly start to creep in there.
