Random Pre Collision Alerts
I purchased a Ford CPO 2020 F-150 in June, 2021.
Since then I have had 3 instances of seemingly random pre-collision alerts.
The first I don't remember the exact circumstances, and I adjusted the settings to normal sensitivity afterwards. They were on the more sensitive setting before that.
The second was daytime, slow ~25 mph on a narrow suburban street and when a car in front of me went over a speed hump (yes, that is what they call the wide ones usually in doubles around here), it went off. I assumed it had just come into the sensors view, and his brake lights coming on had set it off.
The third was this last weekend was the most perplexing. I was driving a foothills road - curves and slopes. About 1:00 PM in the afternoon headed mostly south. When I cam around a corner pointed uphill towards the sun it went off. Not directly at the sun maybe 25° angle towards the passenger side. NOBODY around except for some cows 25 or so yards off the roadway behind a fence. Could the sun pointing suddenly at the sensor cause it to go off?

don't worry. when you need it is when you worry. just today i was behind a small car doing strange things. long story short.. at approx 40 mph he put his right blinker on and pulled into the right breakdown lane (road is one lane each way). then as i was starting to pass, he put his left blinker on and did a u-turn right in front of me. the warning came on . I hit the brakes but I can't tell if the pre brake worked. my truck stopped. he pulled into the gas station across the street and made a u-turn now going the other way.. I think the pre brake worked but now that I think of it the truck stopped in a fantastically short distance. I did not have time to think other than hit the brake. amazing stop. no tire screeching or anything.

My vehicle doesn't have adaptive cruise control. So it doesn't have forward radar sensors. It uses the camera above the rear view mirror. (1 in this diagram)

^^^^exactly..when traveling to a strange or unfamiliar area I bump it up to high sensitivity. When I’m in my own stomping ground I set it to low. To be honest I have modified the height of the truck, weight , front end , bumper and I have an aftermarket hood. Along with new wheels and larger tires. I am not sure it’s as effective as it was when bone stock.
I love the bliss /cross traffic features, though. I always catch somebody in my blind spot thanks to that amber light in the mirrors.

Aren't electronics wonderful? I had mine go off for no reason, so I set the sensitivity down, and never happened again. Got bored one day, and set it to most sensitive. Strange, approaching same hill, same speed on cruise, about same time of day, and the thing didn't go off. Maybe I hurt its' feelings, I don't know, but if it starts acting up again, I'll just turn the sensitivity [feelings] down again. Don't care enough about it to mention it to my dealer.
My 502a did it yesterday as I aggressively stepped on the gas peddle to make a light, the car in front of me did not have the same thought as me, lol. I was in control, but that big red alert did not make wife happy lol. It has only happened 3-4 times, each time I'd say it was working as it should.
