Cool

I have said for years the only (Dodge) Ram I would buy would be a Cummins TD and that still holds true today.

If I ever need a diesel though I would probably still not buy the Ram.

Dodge or should we say Ram has came a long ways in the quality of the trucks.

I know several people who have them, 1500's and 2500's, and none of them have had any major problems with them.

Now I have a buddy that has a 3500 Hemi work truck and has had 2 transmissions in it so far.

For some reason those tail lights remind me of the 15-17 f150. Also that rear bumper is awful. Looks like what Ford did with the raptor (which also is bleh). The current bumper with the molded groves for the exhaust is much more sexy. And the front....well I think everyone here hit it on the head. Looks like a Chinese clone of a GMC except it also got a little design flare from whatever guy designed the new Titan. I've heard good things about the reliability of the Ram, especially with the Hemi (which I'm surprised won't be getting replaced) but that is a hideous truck which is really a shame because the current Ram is a damn good looking truck.

2 guys here at work, one had his 2015 Rams tranny go out at 10k, the other's 2011 had a spun cam bearing at 54k. My Dad's 1998 had tranny go out at 64k.

At the end of the day it is still a Chrysler (Fiat) and who knows what's next. The resale values on Ram's are much lower than on the Ford's. I have always felt that over the years the Dodge brand tended to have good powertrains and interesting styling, but the rest of the vehicle is poor and they depreciate significantly.
I am a Ford guy thru and thru but would consider the GMC if the Ford wasn't an option.

Some of you act like Ford has no issues. The forum is littered with them. My neighbor is having a second F150 bought back because of issues. This one includes a blown motor at one point and a sunroof they can't get fixed. He has been out of his truck for almost four months total while it was in the shop.

You can have problems with any manufacturer.

My jeep liberty CRD is such a raging piece of crap its not even funny. They cut some many corners to save a couple of bucks that it just is heinously unreliable. If it were not for the diesel and being extremely unique, I would have probably gotten rid of it by now.

RAM executives straight up said the previous body style was designed with aerodynamics and efficiency in mind instead of cooling capacity and utility. They polled their customers and realized no one tows 11,000 lbs with a half ton so it didnt matter, except for marketing. This is one of the reasons that Rams tow numbers are generally lower.

This is exactly what I said when I saw it a few days ago, a vertically stretched Charger.

The new 2019 Ram exterior looks great to me. I liked the interior of my 2014 Ram and I figure the new one won't disappoint me. I'll take Uconnect over Sync.

No real big problems with the 2016. BLIS crapped out today and homelink is getting replaced. The flat load floor is a plus for the F150. Not thrilled with the new nose and tail of the 2018 F150's.
I am waiting on a few more details but they very well could win my heart as well. Supposedly, they have an inline-6 turbo charged motor in the works that will compete directly with the Ecoboosts.

They already have a decent transmission(8 speed) although I like the idea of the 10 speed more. The 5 link rear suspension is great, and when you combine it with the 4 corner air ride its awesome. They already have rear sway bars.

The only thing that they dont have is the payload. Currently a crew cab hemi maxes out at like 1500 lbs of payload and a ecodiesel is like 1350. Thats a base model truck I believe. I have seen Limited ecodiesels with less than 900 lbs of payload.

That said, it looks like they are going from 5 lug to 6 lug axles which may mean they are increasing GVWR and payload. If they can get to 2000 lbs and combine that with the air suspension, that is a winning combo for me.

The only hurdle left is reliabilty. Thats what scares me the most.

I have heard far less serious issues from Ford or Chevy people.

Almost everyone I know who owns an late model FCA vehicle has serious issues with them and these are not people who frequent forums when they have an issue. You gotta remember that ford sells like 70000+ full sized trucks a month, many of which are F150s, and a handful of people come on here and complain about issues. I think ford probably sells as many F150's in 6 months as there are members on this forum covering vehicles back to 1987. 90% of those people probably never log in.

One coworker lemon lawed his 2014 Grand Cherokee and had serious electrical issues with the 2nd one. It couldnt get lemon lawed because it was electrical and so he traded it in on an Explorer sport and took a major hit. Loves the explorer.

My other coworker has had two recent Ram 1500's. The first was lemon lawed and now the 2nd one was having transmission issues. Traded for a 2018 F150 Platinum two weeks ago.

Multiple people have told me their Chrysler 200's have been absolutely terrible on the electronics side. I am sure that carries over to other small SUV's and cars on the same platform.

My 2006 Jeep liberty CRD is probably the worst engineered vehicle i have ever heard of. You go on that forum and everyone will tell you that just to get it to run like one would expect a vehicle to come from the factory, and be reliable, you gotta drop almost $3k in mods.

-Fuel filter head leaks and sucks in air
-Turbo to CAC/CAC to intake hoses dissolve from Crank case vent oil and rips
-Intake clogs with soot
-torque converter fails on the original factory tune so they detuned it with a recall!
-Thermostats fail every 40k(bought mine at 42k and it was already dead) and its a full enclosed housing that cost $150 to replace. Paid $500 for a billet housing that fits a replaceable hemi thermostat.
-Rocker arms fail because of poor metallurgy and poor factory oil suggestions.
-Factory fan clutch fails at ~50k miles. Replacements seem to be DOA.

And the hilarious part, they repeated a lot of the same dumb things on the ecodiesel ram.
