Default Rain sensing wipers

Hi...

So I got a platinum today and I don't know how to use the rain sensing wipers. In the display its checked on that they are auto sensing, yet they don't seem to work.. I have the wiper controls on off.. what do I have to do to get them to work?

I thought the same thing, that when it sensed rain they should come on. I found you need to turn on wipers to intermittent..you'll see it says auto in the stalk as well right next to the hashes for the intermittent. Once on intermittent, the rain sensor kicks in and it will wipe when it needs to..less in lighter rain and more in heavier rain. I'm sure mine is still turned on to the first notch of intermittent. When there is no rain, there is no wiping.

Owners manual page 81-82

Manual says the higher you go on the intermittent scale, the more sensitive the rain sensor is, meaning it will take less rain to activate it.

Don't forget to shut off the intermittent wiper when going into the car wash.

adding on to that:
each hash adjusts the sensitivity, first hash to enable intermittent is lowest sensitivity and goes up from there. I run mine on the second hash and seems to be a good balance.

but if you go through a car wash (or anytime you need to), turn them off by turning dial back.

sometimes a bug hits just right and they go off on a sunny day, just turn them off until you can clean, ha.

If you leave it running while gasing up and wash the windshield you get a surprise.

This was the second thing I disabled as I really hated auto wipers what a joke either to slow or full speed ...

First was auto high beams - drove down a highway at 60mph in snow and they started flashing a sedan in front of me like crazy - no thanks , I found that off in the menu REAL FAST WHILE DRIVING...

I think it does say in the manual that under certain circumstances the camera can cause undesireable behavior. I think you found one of the certain circumstances.

At any rate, I love both features and know they're not meant to always be on.
