Default Radio Reception

All,

has anyone noticed that the reception on their radio has a lot of static when either the USB ports are being used or the 12V power points are being used? I noticed this today when charging my iPhone. Never had that problem before in my Fusion.

Just asking is all though it was weird.

Haven't used the standard radio in years of owning my F150. I may need to try just to experiment.

If using a plugin USB charger, many chargers can cause the noise because it's internal circuit is a 14v down conversion that uses a fast switching circuit that generates switching spikes at RF frequencies.
The I-Phone plugged into a USB port could/might do the same with it's internal charge control circuit.
Process of elimination until you get a quiet combination.
Good luck.

I haven't noticed an issue. I use an Anker 12V USB adapter in the console power point constantly, and occasionally one in the dash power point as well, and I use both AM and FM on a regular basis. The only thing I plug into the cubby USB ports is a thumb drive with music on it. I have the stock full-length radio antenna.

Tried a different USB plug and the reception was fine. The USB plug I was using and getting the bad reception was a simple one where it has two slots for adding two devices.
