Default Quick shift out of 1st gear?

So I'll start out by saying I absolutely love my new truck. Have not had a single issue that has been brought up by others on here so far. Just over 1,500 miles on it now and averaging about 12-13 mpgs in town and 16-17 mpgs highway and happy with that as I didn't buy my truck for gas mileage. My question to all is this. Is it just me, or does it seem that from a full stop it gets out of first gear and into 2nd a little too quickly? I've run it in sport mode and there isn't much of a change. I can put my foot into it more and it'll hang in 1st a little longer but I feel like I'm racing the guy next to me every time I do that and can only do it when I'm the first at the light. Maybe it's just the difference in the way my 08 Tacoma took off from a stop, I don't know? By the way, this is not a complaint in any way. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this or is it just me? Thanks in advance

It does jump out of first rather quickly and now because you can actually see what gear your in it does seem really fast. That being said, I think most trucks/ cars with 6 gears are like this. My 05 XLT felt the same way but it was just a guess because no display. If you want to wind out 1st gear then drive in manual mode but I guarantee that will get old pretty quick. will also kill your MPGs.

Coming out of a 4-speed '02 Avalanche to a modern 6-speed, it does seem to shift a bit early, but most of the time it always seems to be in the 'right' gear for what it thinks is optimal fuel economy for the speed you're traveling. My wife's '11 Acura MDX only gets about six feet before it shifts to second, right in the middle of the intersection, usually. My truck isn't near as obnoxious.

My truck has the 3.55 e-locker & 3.5EB.

Could be due to your 5.0 & 3.73's? To keep the rpm's down it upshifts earlier? Does the transmission have much different shift points depending on the engine to which it's mated?

Anyone seen a chart showing rpm / gear / speed numbers for each engine and final drive ratio combination? Is that even a thing? I'd think it possible, and interesting...

I agree that it never seems out of place or like it is searching for the right gear. I'm sure its a normal thing and I'm probably one of the few that only really notices it because my last truck was a 5 speed. It probably just held first gear a little longer. Drove it for 7 years so moving up to this truck is going to have some initial little "getting used to's". God I love the power increase! I could go on for days about how much better this truck is than a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. Lol
