Default Questions about SYNC 3

I just bought a 2016 F150 XLT with SYNC 3. I didn't notice when I was test driving it but there is no icon for navigation. I thought all SYNC 3's came with this feature. Is there any way to upgrade the software to get Navigation or am I just out of luck.

Some don't come with navigation. What does your window sticker say?

You can get navigation, but you'll have to change out the APIM. It's easy to do, but it'll cost you a couple of hundred even after selling your current non-nav APIM.

The window sticker just says comes with SYNC 3 nothing about navigation. Guess I learned a hard lesson. Should have checked for it. Thanks for the help.

Like BearracudaTM said, waze or google maps are actually a lot better than the factory nav. The only reason to use the factory nav is if you're driving in an area with no cell reception.

Google Maps allows you to download the maps locally onto your phone for this exact reason; I found out after losing cell coverage in Colorado last year... Nav probably isn't even worth the extra money at this point.

+1 for Waze ot Google maps. Set up Android Auto (or Apple Car play if you're into that sort of thing) and use that. It's a much better user experience
