Default Questionable instrument cluster

I have a 2016 XL Sport 2WD that I bought used. It has the 4” instrument cluster. That was one of the features that was a must have for me since the basic one looks super cheap. I feel like that is a pretty rare find in an XL trim but don’t know for sure. Another curious thing is that it has the off road status menu option and apparently the sensors to read that info. I would assume that option would only be available on 4WD or trucks with an off road package but I could be wrong. Also I noticed while playing around with Forscan that it has a past DTC for “instrument cluster failed to communicate”. I have a suspicion that it was replaced at some point. Does anyone know if this instrument cluster could have actually come from the factory with this truck or if there is any way to find out?

Download the as built foe your vin and compare the values from the current cluster. If they don't match it was replaced. I don't recall seeing a 4" ever on an XL. Could have been a mileage correction swap to be in the sellers favor. Was it private purchase or dealer?

I have a 2wd 2018 with the 4" cluster as well. It came with the offroad status menu standard, so it's very likely that your cluster is original to the truck depending on option packages.

The XL definitely had a 4.2" screen cluster option in the 2016. If you want to be absolutely certain that it was the cluster that shipped with the truck originally then pm me your VIN and I can lookup what cluster was in it when it left the factory.
