Default Question About the 4.2" Sync (not Sync3)

I'm looking at the 2016 Ordering Guide, and it references the 4.2" Sync on for example the XL. I'm thinking the Sync3 is new, but the 4.2" is the same from last year. Is that right?

Reason I ask is because I just wanted to confirm that you can insert a USB key with MP3s on it and play them directly through the 4.2" Sync. If it's the same Infotainment from 2015, then I'm sure some folks already know.

Yes, you will still have USB ports to hook up your mp3 player and play your music with the 4.2" center stack/panel

Thanks KJP, but I'm actually to playing MP3s directly from a USB stick (key, flash drive, jump drive, etc), not an MP3 player. Playing them directly from a stick requires that the infotainment system supports MP3's. I'm sure it does, I was just hoping to get confirmation without having to personally test it.

Assuming of course that the 2016 Sync is the same as the 2015.

I just went out to test it for ya. I copied 5 songs from my mp3 player to a plane/jane usb stick.

You will be happy to know works exactly the same, sync picked it up and started playing. All relevant info was displayed on the screen.

Thanks guys. I had no doubts about Sync3, but it might have been possible Ford could have cheaped out on the 4.2"
