Default Quarter panel question

Hi Everyone
Im looking at replacing my 2011 Tacoma with an 2018 Supercab xlt 4x4 . I was giving the truck a good go over at the dealer today and noticed these square patches stuck to the inside of the quarter panel, what are they for? The one had fallen off and was stuck to the backside of the wheel well which is a little concerning.

thanks
Roy

I've seen them, but never paid much attention. I get the feeling they're something similar to mass-loaded vinyl, intended to add weight to the panel to prevent it from resonating.

I've seen those as well. I think tvsjr is correct in that they're sound dampening material.
