I really like them. For me its the just right "bigger but not too big size". I like the "factory +" look rather than obviously modified look.
On my Tundra I had 275/65/20 and always thought they looked tall and skinny. Then I switched to these 285/60/20 and put them on the F150 when I got it. I like them because they have a little more sidewall meat and a little wider footprint than stock. In my experience, 275/60/20, 275/65/20 & 285/60/20 all have the same effect on gas mileage. The bigger factor is going from a street tire to an all terrain tire. Going to all terrain tires is going to cost you 2-2.5 mpg.

I did not notice any change in mpg going from 275/60/20 Cooper Zeon LTZ to BFG 275/65/20 which are 10 ply. Weight probably has some effect but not as much as rolling resistance from aggressive tread pattern.

The 285/60/20 is the perfect tire to give the truck a bit of an attitude, looks aggressive and still retains a stock look, and that is what I was looking for, I love some of the 4-6" lifted trucks, they are awesome, but I drive a lot for a living and I wanted the best of both worlds.....
