Default Q: Security Shock Sensor (Perimeter Plus) - Temporary Disable? [SOLVED]

I have a 2016 LARIAT with the VSS (Perimeter Plus/Shock Sensor) and RMU (Remote Access) modules installed on it.

In the VSS Owners Manual, it says this:

To Disable the Shock Sensor:
1. Turn the ignition key off and remove key.
2. Open the drivers's door.
3. Depress and hold the brake pedal.
4. Within 5 seconds press the lock button one time on your RKE keyfob.

The horn will honk two (2) times and the security LED (optional) will illuminate for 20 seconds, after which the security system will arm with the shock sensor disabled. The shock sensor will remain disabled until the vehicle ignition is cycled ON then OFF.

I've tried this procedure about 10 times and still the shock sensor is enabled and the alarm (horn) will sound if there is a 'shock' to the truck.

Has anybody tried this procedure and had success? If so, can you tell me (us) if you follow this procedure exactly or is there something missing?

I figured out the problem myself and, indeed, it does work!!! (to my amazement)

Here's the key: You have to due step 2, 3 and 4 all within 5 seconds of turning off the vehicle! So, turn the truck off, open the door immediately (this is where I think the real 5-second rule is), push & hold brake pedal down and press the Lock button on the RKE keyfob. Then, you have 20 seconds to close the door and activate the alarm. When you close the door, you will hear the horn honk two (2) times confirming that 1) the Shock Sensor is disabled and 2) the perimeter alarm is enabled (active) (meaning door opens, hood opens, etc. can set the alarm off). I tested this 5 times to be sure and each time it worked if I did all the steps just right - no alarms caused by the shock sensor which can be useful in known 'loud' (thunder/boom) situations.

I hope this is helpful to know for others

Default disable shock sensor convieniently

According to the paperwork that came with my add on shock sensor. It's supposed to come with a jumper that disables the shock sensor. That jumper was missing from my sensor add on kit. But it is supposed to plug into the 4 pin connector on the side of the sensor box.

unfortunately, no clue as to which of the 4 pins are jumpered to disable the alarm.
The connector looks like a standard computer 4 pin connector used for connecting low powered devices like fans or lights, etc. It should be fairly simple by trial and error to figure out which pins need to be shorted. and then run two wires to a toggle switch in and inconspicuous location.
Alarm on/Alarm Off

dickross,

Have you had any sucess with finding the solution or found where to add the wire. I am in the process of buying the perimeter alarm for a 2017 XLT with basic perimeter security and remote start. Many have left the jumper cable off and I believe your thread is one part of the install that no one thinks of until after the fact. I could definately be wrong but everyone seems to leave the jumper wire off. After reading threads on installing the Perimeter Plus after market, I want to make sure I install it correctly and have the ability to disable it as you describe.

I was curious about this too as I will be installing one soon. Dickross hasn't been on the site since March. Hopefully he'll get an email notification.

I couldn’t get the instructions above to work, looks like Ford might have changed the steps on the newer version. FYI for anyone it’s not working for.

Shock Sensor Disable:
The security system has the ability to ignore the optional shock sensor while armed. This feature is useful for events that may jar your vehicle, but pose no threat, such as a loud thunder storm or heavy construction traffic passing near your parked vehicle.
This feature may be activated using the procedure listed below. The vehicle's doors can be opened or closed during this process.

To Disable the Shock Sensor:
1. Turn the ignition key off and remove key.
2. Within 15 seconds, open the driver's door.
3. Within 15 seconds, press the Unlock Button on your RKE Keyfob 3 times.
4. Within 5 seconds press the Lock Button on your RKE Keytob 1 time.

The horn will honk two (2) times and the security LED (optional) will illuminate for 20 seconds, after which the security system will arm with the shock sensor disabled. The shock sensor will remain disabled until the vehicle ignition is cycled ON then OFF.

Intrusion Attempt Alert:
If the hom honks two (2) times when you disarm your security system, this indicates that the alarm was tripped while you were away from your vehicle. You will also notice that the dash mounted security LED indicator (optional) is also flashing rapidly. Turning the ignition to the ON position or rearming the security system will clear the intrusion attempt alert
