I wonder how that would affect the tailgate lock? Unless the lock is tied in with the door locks.

I've used the keyless start thingamajig on Toyotas in Japan. It spoils ye. Key stays in pocket where a key belongs, door unlocks when ye get close, open door, push start button, hey, love it. Battery dies, stick key thingamajig in ye car (in our case our trucks) and it still starts. Spoiled me I tell ye. Kind of like all this other mess we didn't think we needed but now canno' live without - power windows/seats, power steering (I remember when that wasn't normal), air conditioner (hey, we didn't have ac when CFO and I got married), etc. Yep, this old geezer wants no key starting.

Hey, right now, GM is on news because of faulty "ignition switches". See? We don't need nary "ignition switch" mess.

It would be a poor design if it wasn't. That is how it works on the Ram.
