Hey all

I have a family member looking into purchasing a 2016 XL with 3.5 ecoboost. I’m not too familiar with this generation of trucks. I was hoping I could get some insight on what to look for when checking out the truck.

I don't think it is an Ecoboost. That year there was a 3.5L but it was not turbo for that trim level.

 

Thats interesting. Looking at the listing, it’s stating 2016 F150 XL, with engine specs being 3.5L Ecoboost Twin Turbo

 

Not true. It came on the XL.

 

Sorry . I thought it came only in the higher trims.

 

On my second 2015 F150 currently. They are great trucks. I would check the belts depending on the mileage, make sure the battery is not the original (just made that mistake had to replace battery a week after purchase), how do the brakes look, is frame rusted bad, how's the service record, check 4wd H & L (some 4wd L shifting issues). Pretty typical stuff honestly. Never really had any major issues with these model years personally, have had 4 in my family with high mileage.
