Default Protective Wiring Cap for Backup Camera

Hello,
Just purchased my first F150 (had a 04 GMC before this) and found this rear video camera wiring protective cap #FL3T-15A562-AB in the glove box. I have no backup camera and was told this truck was a rental. It has the Sync 4.2" screen, no nav.

My question is this... Is this cap in all F150's (2015-newer) or might I really have all the wiring and hardware in the dash/head unit just no camera? When in reverse the screen stays on what ever media option I'm using at the time phone/radio/etc...

Thanks,
Scott

The 2016 XLT, sync 3, no nav, I am looking at also had the BU cam plug and it has the camera. It also had a trailer wiring harness, didn't look like a normal trailer plug and wires definitely were not the correct colors. Salesperson had no idea what they were for.

I think it's in all of them. It's in mine too and I did not have a back up camera nor where was the wiring back there. Not sure what the point is of the cap.

I was wondering about it a while back and recall reading its used to protect the connection when you take off the tailgate. I got one in my glove as well and have the XL model which did not come with back up camera.

That would make perfect sense.
