Problems with Pillar Tweeter (Sony System)
So I have the Sony system on my 2016 Lariat, and recently, the tweeter on the driver's side a-pillar has started cutting in and out. Not terrible when it's out and stays out, but the on/off and the damn crackling that has started when it's on is unbearable.
I'm assuming the warranty isn't going to cover a speaker problem. (If I'm wrong, please let me know.)
It's been 15 years since I put aftermarket stereos in my trucks - factory systems had finally gotten good enough I thought I was done with this. On the other hand, if I have to start opening up panels to fix speaker problems, I'm going to upgrade while I'm in there.
First question - anyone else had a similar issue with those pillar mounted tweeters?
Second question - any suggestions for reasonably priced replacement speakers? If I start tearing into the tweeters, I'm likely to end up replacing all of speakers. I've always been a fan of using a set designed to work together. I'd prefer a simple speaker swap without needing additional amps or crossovers.

why would the warranty NOT cover it if you're within the month/mileage limits of the bumper to bumper coverage?
It could be failing or it sounds like it could be a bad connection. Since it's tied into the door speaker wiring, if the door speaker still works and sounds good then you can just trace it from that point in the kick panel area up to the tweeter and see if something's been knocked loose.
If you do swap the speakers out, a component set will be needed and it'll have an in-line crossover and have a bit of wiring to do, but nothing major.
