Default Problem with tailgate light bar and "trailer"

Just got my '15 Screw Platinum. Had an aftermarket tailgate led light bar (the strip that goes below the tailgate, between it and the bumper) and they plugged it into the trailer wiring harness recepticle in the bumper. When starting the notice comes up on the instrument cluster indicating trailer attached which you can dismiss but this recognition causes a number of features to be disabled like the blind spot intervention and several other things. I cannot find anywhere to override this in the settings and the Ford service guy who I asked to contact Ford to find out if it can be done (not sure he really made a full fledged effort) says they said "no."

Anyone know what I can do? If they splice and hardwire will I still get this problem? I don't want to take any chances messing it up but I liked my light bar on my '13 F150 and there weren't these problems--then again it didn't have all these features.

Appreciate any/all help.

Wire it to your reverse lights.

It would have to be wired to the tail lights.

If it is plugged into the trailer connector or even wired to the trailer wiring, the load of the lights will be picked up as a trailer connected.

What he said^^
How could it be anything other?
The best solution is to wire it direct through the tail lights. A lot more work for sure, but still the best way to do it.

Your problem might be a solution for someone else.

Some owners of the 2.7 EB complain about the auto start-stop feature that is by default always on (you can manually turn it off, but must do so each ignition cycle).

Adding a light bar load to the trailer light pig tail tricks the truck into thinking there is a trailer which in turn disables the auto start-stop on the 2.7 EB.

You could also go into the tow settings on your info screen and tell it to forget the trailer (wording is probably wrong) which may get rid of the trailer alert, or wire it to your brake and turn signal lights.
