Default Pro Trailer Backup Delete

About to go to the dealer tomorrow to see if I can work down the price on a 2019 XLT. I really want this year specifically or a 2020 but unfortunately it comes with a couple features I almost wish weren't there. I already found out the auto start can be disabled with autostart eliminator which is great and leaves me satisfied. But I am wondering if anybody has deleted pro trailer backup assist. From my research that dial pops out easily, I'm wondering if this will cause any technical issues with Sync 3. I typically remove factory headunits from cars but I'd like to keep sync3 since everything seems integrated and I don't want to mess anything up. It seems like the only parts I would need are the coin holder to pop in its place as well as purchasing a handle with the backup camera only like this?

I understand that I can just keep it there too, in that case has anybody found this feature useful? I have extremely little towing experience, but likely won't be towing much at all for a while.
Thanks guys

Why not just not use it? It’s not the coin holder part you’d need. That part goes where the 4wd switch is. You’d need to replace that panel instead.

I wouldn’t think it’s a big deal to just leave it there. You’re not forced to use it.

Mine has it, I played with it once, and have never used it since. No issue with it being there.

i not once used it in my trucks that had it, just leave it there and call it good

FWIW that center trim stack panel is different for the trucks that have the trailer backup assist vs not

I've use the trailer backup assist - I think it's mostly useful for backing a trailer for a long distance. I don't use it for parking my boat, backing down the launching ramp, etc.

I'm not sure it would be worth the bother to remove the dial. Does it cause some kind of problem?

having since owned the truck, I actually dont mind the feature and do feel its not worth the hassle to delete. Also love how the camera doubles as an led light at night too. Feel free to close the thread! Im an absolute beginner when it comes to towing so I don’t think I should remove it

thanks guys!

I have a '17 and mine does have the pro trailer backup assist. I have used it, but most of the time I do not when I'm backing up my trailer. Almost all of my backing with the trailer is short-distance stuff and I can easily see the trailer in my mirrors. Backing isn't that difficult once you know how to do it. That being said, I actually have a short length trailer that is difficult to see when backing and I will use the trailer backup system for that specific trailer, especially when backing more than a short distance. I don't think I have used the system more than once or twice with my TT and that's mostly to set the TT up with the system AND ensure that the system works.

If I don't need it, I don't turn it on.

Never got mine to work right. First, I couldn’t drive far enough in a straight line with the trailer to calibrate it when I was at a campground, when I thought to try it.
Now, I suspect since I’ve lifted the trailer, it won’t recognize the target sticker for this trailer.
I’ll try again sometime, same trailer but adding it as a new one.

I fail to understand the reasoning behind removing the system from a truck. Kinda like, “I’m not going to tow a trailer that needs brakes so I’ll pull the ITBC so I can put a nifty plastic hole in there to hold my…. ??? crack pipe”.

The best thing about it is for backing up a very short wheel base trailer over a long distance. I never use it for my travel trailer or boat trailer but it works well with my short wheel base utility trailer that will jack knife at the drop of a hat while backing.
