Default Pro Trailer backup

2018 XLT Supercab: I've placed the sticker properly, entered the 4 dimensions in the computer. Problem is the trailer will not turn sharp enough to back from street into driveway. Holding **** all the way does not help. Trailer tongue has a slight rise as this truck sits a little higher than my old '05 SCAB, could this be the reason it won't turn tight enough?

My guess is that the PTBA system is making sure it doesn't jackknife the trailer. I have the same issue trying to get my sled trailer into my driveway from the alley, and the tongue is flat; I can generally get it into the driveway without the PTBA, but it's a tight squeeze and gets uncomfortably close to jackknifing (unless I screw it up, in which case it probably will end up jackknifed), as well as getting the front end of the truck very close to the far side of the alley trying to follow the trailer in.

Your best bet is to go to an empty parking lot on a Sunday and set it up, ensure that it works properly. Then, return to the driveway and try it.

I have a very flat stretch in front of the house where I set it up. Drove forward until system posted calibration complete. If I can't make it back into the driveway the system will be worthless for my application. I'll check for any you tube vids on it. Thanks for the replies.

That's the way it works. As said above it's to prevent jackknifing. I had the same issue. I guess it's made more for backing a boat down a straight ramp.

The system will not allow the trailer to jack knife right? I'm going to experiment more with it and peg the **** to the right and see how sharp it will turn.

That's correct.
