I love my Garmin GPS because I can use it while driving. Ford GPS takes too long to look up stuff. My issue so far is all the round outlets to plug my Garmin GPS/traffic stay powered when truck is off. Is there anyway to change that so the Garmin will auto shutoff when truck is powered down? Do all the truck charges (plug, USB, round) all stay hot powered with truck power on or off?

 

In my Sport Trac all three power ports are hot all the time. This is a real advantage in recharging a phone while the truck is shut off.


My Garmin navigation unit plugged in draws so little power that it never has caused any issues. Just leave it powered on.

 

If it was drawing enough power to drain the battery, the bcm would cut power to the socket eventually.

It would be easy enough to rewire one socket to accessory power if that's what you wanted to do.
